BIBLE READING: Exodus 20:3-6

3 Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

5 Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

6 And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

MESSAGE:

Today, many people, especially teenagers, are obsessed with their phones. Some teenagers cannot stay without their phones for five minutes. The only time they are not on their phones is when they are asleep. When they wake up in the morning, the first thing they do is pick up their phones. While the mobile phone is extremely effective because you can use it to communicate with anybody in the world, you still have to be careful not to live under its influence.

My dear child, if there is anything you should be addicted to, it is the word of God. You are to meditate on it day and night (Joshua 1:8), not on social media feeds and reels. What do you share with your friends on social media? Do you only share funny memes and reels or Scriptures and godly teachings? Ephesians 5:19 says that we are to speak to each otherin psalms and hymns, but many no longer have such conversations; all what they discuss are celebrities and memes.

Beloved, if you have lost interest in the word of God, it is time to return to it and become addicted to it again. It is time to begin to study the word first thing in the morning and last thing at night every day.

KEY POINT:

Be addicted to studying God’s word, not browsing through the internet or social media on your phone.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR:

Deuteronomy 16:1-17:20, Luke 9:7-27

HYMN 55: Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose

1 Christian, Seek Not Yet Repose;

Hear Thy Guardian Angel Say,

“Thou Art In The Midst Of Foes:

Watch And Pray!”

2 Principalities And Powers,

Mustering Their Unseen Array,

Wait For Thy Unguarded Hours:

“Watch And Pray.”

3 Gird Thy Heavenly Armour On;

Wear It Every Night And Day

Ambush’d Lies The Evil One:

“Watch And Pray.”

4 Hear The Victors Who O’ercame;

Still They Mark Each Warrior’s Way;

All With One Sweet Voice Exclaim,

“Watch And Pray!”

5 Hear, Above AlI, Hear Thy Lord,

Him Thou Lovest To Obey;

Hide Within Thy Heart His Word:

“Watch And Pra!.”

6 Watch, As If On That Alone

Hung The Issue Of The Day;

Pray, That Help May Be Sent Down:

Watch And Pray.
