TOPIC: Living For His Glory

READ: John 1: 1-5(NKJV)

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

He was in the beginning with God.

All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

THE MESSAGE

I found it a bit uncomfortable the first time I was to teach Evolution. Evolutionism has even affected the study of religion in universities, particularly the social anthropological studies of religion. As I prepared, I pondered: Should I just say that life developed from simple to more complex forms, to these freshmen and leave it there? I wondered afterwards how far man is willing to go just to disprove the simple words of the Bible that God created the world. Verse 1 of our text is such a powerful expression of the truth, and believing it saves us much confusion. John identified the Word as Jesus, who is Himself God; God created all things through Him (Jesus), and in Him was life!

Simple as the above may sound, it is the basis upon which life makes ultimate meaning. But it also has profound implications. For example, if all things were made through Him, then it follows that man was also made through Him. The same John wrote in Revelation that He created all things for His glory; ‘all things’ will include you and me. Is your life bringing Him glory? Are you living to please Him only? Do you have another agenda for existing? What are you living for? If living is not for Him, then you have missed the purpose of your creation; you are malfunctioning!

PRAYER: Am I living for His glory?
