BIBLE TEXT: 2 Corinthians 13:5-8
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.
7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.
MESSAGE:
I am convinced that the question God asked Adam long ago “Where art thou?” is as relevant today as it was then. It is not a question that an individual should wait for God to ask him or her, rather, each person should ask himself or herself often as we prepare for the coming of Christ.
From the day a person is born, the fellow begins a return journey to where he/she is from (Ecclesiastes 12:1-7). This is why people ask, “How old are you?” and not “How young are you?” My dear, no matter how young you are, you are growing older every day. Hence, you should ask yourself this same question regularly. Ask yourself, how far have I gone in fulfilling the purpose of God for my life?
Your assessment of your past and present will tell whether you are really serving the purpose of your existence, and this is very important. Discuss with God and ask for the grace to be in the right standing always.
ACTION POINT:
Do a self-evaluation and ask God for help based on your findings.
HYMN 9 – O Jesus, I Have Promised
O Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
Be Thou for ever near me,
My Master and my Friend:
I shall not fear the battle
If Thou art by my side,
Nor wander from the pathway
If Thou wilt be my Guide.
O let me feel Thee near me;
The world is ever near;
I see the sights that dazzle,
The tempting sounds I hear;
My foes are ever near me,
Around me and within;
But, Jesus, draw Thou nearer,
And shield my soul from sin.
O let me hear Thee speaking
In accents clear and still,
Above the storms of passion,
The murmurs of self-will;
O speak to reassure me,
To hasten or control;
O speak and make me listen,
Thou Guardian of my soul.
O Jesus, Thou hast promised
To all who follow Thee,
That where Thou art in Glory
There shall Thy servant be;
And, Jesus, I have promised
To serve Thee to the end;
O give me grace to follow
My Master and my Friend.
