TOPIC: Jesus Is Never Late!

READ: John 11:22-27 (NKJV)

“But even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.”

Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.”

Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection at the last day.”

Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.

“And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

She said to Him, “Yes, Lord, I believe that You are the Christ, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

THE MESSAGE:

Jesus Christ had been informed about the illness of Lazarus, the brother of Mary and Martha, a family He really loved. But against the hope of the family, it seemed as if Jesus did not take the information seriously, for instead of giving an immediate response to the distress call, the Master delayed His coming for another few days. As a matter of fact, Hę did not leave where he was until Lazarus gave up the Ghost. Did He really love the family as He claimed? Why then would He tarry until the matter was too late to handle? The family saw Him as their last hope, yet He appeare d not concerned about their problem. They strongly believed that only if He would come around and pray for their sick brother, there would be a change but now all hope was gone and all faith weakened.

Martha still gathered herself together to welcome Jesus when He eventually came but she made her mind known, “If you had been here my brother would not have died.” Had it been you responded immediately our call reached You few days ago, we are so sure that You would have arrested the situation, but now… it is too late because he is dead and buried. Though Martha quickly added “But even now I know that God will give You whatsoever You asked for”, it is clear that she was not expecting anything immediate and specific any more, but what will happen generally to everyone at the end of the age. Jesus told her“Your brother will rise again” (verse 23). Jesus is never late. Perhaps you have been calling on God on an issue and there has been no response, do not doubt His love to you; Jesus holds time in His hands so He can never be late. The expected miracle eventually happened in the family of Martha, Mary and Lazarus, but the foundation of that miracle was a cordial relationship between the family and Jesus. Do you have any relationship with God through Jesus? Give Him a chance today and He will visit you with the power of resurrection.
