BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Song of Solomon 1, Song of Solomon 2, Matthew 3, Matthew 4

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Jeremiah 17:5-8 (KJV)

5 Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

6 For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

7 Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

8 For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

God loves us so much. He is jealous over us and wants us to put our trust completely in Him. Sometimes, He uses the refining fire to fix our trust issues.

A young minister once shared how he learnt to trust God completely concerning financial issues in his ministry. He said every time a programme or project that needed funding came up, he found himself depending on a few members who were financially stable. Project after project, God allowed misunderstandings to happen between the minister and each member he trusted upon. The mistake he made was he kept shifting his trust from one member to the other after each disappointment. Though some of the issues were later resolved with the members, he lost some of the members; he learnt his lesson the hard way.

Some people even put their trust in their riches. They talk and act as if all they have was acquired by their strength alone. They forget that they would not have achieved anything if God did not grant them good health. They do not seek God’s will or counsel concerning anything. They focus first on their earthly acquisitions when making important decisions. Such people too may have to go through God’s refining fire of disappointments for their faith in God to be perfect.

God wants to be your only source. He wants to take the glory concerning all affairs of your life. And if need be, He will use his refining fire to remove your habit of trusting in ‘horses and chariots’ (Psalm 20:7-8).

Commit your way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass (Psalms 37:5).

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

I repent of completely putting my trust in man, in the name of Jesus.

O Lord, You are my Alpha and Omega. Strengthen my trust in You, in the name of Jesus.

You spirit of fear, making me depend on the arm of flesh, lose your hold over my life, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

O Lord, grant me wisdom for making right decisions, in the name of Jesus.

O Lord, open my eyes of understanding to Your precepts, in the name of Jesus.

I shall not return to my vomit, in the name of Jesus.

My path shines brighter and brighter, in the name of Jesus.
