FIRE SCRIPTURE: Titus 2:1-5 (KJV)

1 But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:

2 That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.

3 The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

4 That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

5 To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

In 2 Timothy 1:5, we read about the role of Timothy’s mother and his grandmother. Eunice and Lois communicated their strong Christian faith to Timothy. The high calling of a mother is to be a role model worthy of emulation to her family. As a godly mother, don’t hide your light at home. Your families are fertile fields for planting gospel seeds. Let your family both immediate and extended know of your faith in Jesus and be sure they see Christ’s love and joy in you.

In our fire scripture today (Titus 2:1-5), Apostle Paul encouraged older women to teach the younger ones by words and by examples. Mothers -both young and old, you should submit to your husband, care for your children and motivate them to live in a way that honours God. A godly mother must be a praying mother who travails in the place of prayer for her family. A praying mother is a powerful mother. No power of hell can tear away children from a praying mother (Colossians 4:2).

Another high calling of a godly mother is to train her children in the way of God. Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old he will not depart from it.” Similarly, a godly mother is a wise steward of her home like the Proverbs 31:27 woman, who provides for her home in due season.

Mother’s high calling also includes the mother exercising the fear of God and trust in God. It is her duty to inculcate this in the life of her family. A wise and godly woman will build up her home. Proverbs 14:1 says “Every wise woman buildeth her house but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”

A godly mother must feed her children with the words of God. She must be contended with what she has and train her children to do the same. She is a disciple maker who disciples her children for God, as Hannah did by raising Samuel for the use of God.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

Holy Spirit, uphold mothers in Christian homes to teach their children, in the way of God, in the name of Jesus.

Powers assigned to render our children motherless, die now, in the name of Jesus.

Our family shall not experience scarcity of Godly mothers, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

Evil influence turning Christian mothers away from God, die now, in the name of Jesus.

Holy Spirit, give Christian mothers divine wisdom to bring up their children in the way of the Lord, in the name of Jesus.

Our mothers shall not hear the voice of satan but they shall hear and follow the voice of the Holy Spirit, in the name of Jesus.

Lord, crown the efforts of Christian mothers with success, in the name of Jesus.
