FIRE SCRIPTURE: Matthew 4:1-11 (KJV)

1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

GOD’S WORD IN YOUR MOUTH SHALL NOT RETURN UNTO YOU VOID, BUT SHALL ACCOMPLISH ITS PURPOSE, IN THE NAME OF JESUS.

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

It was common in the olden days to defend oneself with physical weapons like the sword. The problem is that such swords can only be used for physical wars. However, there is a sword that can be used to fight both visible and invisible wars. It is the Sword of the Spirit.

Jesus used this sword to defend himself when satan tempted him after his fast (Matthew 4:1-11), and it proved very effective, as the devil later left him. You should learn to use the word to defend yourself in challenging situations, instead of panicking and chasing after carnal solutions only. Do you feel discomfort in any part of your body? Tell your body you have been healed by the stripes of Jesus (1 Peter 2:24). Is the devil trying to put fear in your mind concerning a decision or action you should take? Declare that you have not been given the spirit of fear, but of power, of love and of a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Are you being tempted to fornicate? Then flee! (1 Corinthians 6:18); don’t wait to negotiate with the tempter. Are you faced with financial challenges? Declare that Jesus, by virtue of all He passed through, has made you rich (2 Corinthians 8:9); claim your blessings in faith according to God’s word that says he that sows abundantly shall reap abundantly (2 Corinthians 9:6). There is no problem that has no solution in the Word. The Word of God is your defence.

Use the Sword of the Spirit to “execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people; to bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron; to execute upon them the judgment written” (Psalm 149:7-9). Take up the Sword of the Spirit today, and let God’s will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

PRAYER POINTS:

MORNING

My ears are inclined to the word of God, in the name of Jesus.

O Lord, empower me to be a doer of your word, in the name of Jesus.

Father, make me Your battle axe, in the name of Jesus.

EVENING

I scatter every evil association against me, in the name of Jesus.

Every evil counsel taken against me shall come to naught, in the name of Jesus.

I cast down every imagination exalting itself against the knowledge of God in my life, in the name of Jesus.

All things shall work together for my good, in the name of Jesus.
