READ: Genesis 27:27-33

27 And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:

28 Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:

29 Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

30 And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

31 And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.

32 And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.

33 And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 73-77

MESSAGE

Is your father usually encouraged to pray for you, or are you a child that provokes him to anger? A father has tremendous power over the life and destiny of his children. Any wise child will always seek to get the blessings of his/her father, whether biological or spiritual, because a father’s blessing is irreversible. Once your father blesses you, you are blessed forever. In the memory verse today, when Isaac realized that he had blessed Jacob instead off Esau, even he could not reverse it.

Many years ago, I had just returned from a journey with a big bag in each hand when two of my children-in-the-Lord came to welcome me. The one who got to me first just greeted me, while the other one took the bags from me immediately, and I said to him, “God bless you”. The one who just greeted me questioned why I did not say the same to him, and I replied, “You saw me carrying the bags, but you didn’t help.”

My dear, if you want your father to bless you, provoke him to do so.

ACTION POINT:

Do something that will provoke your father to bless you today.

HYMN 17 – There Shall Be Showers Of Blessings

“There shall be showers of blessing”

This is the promise of love;

There shall be season refreshing

Send from a savior above

Chorus:

Showers of blessing

Showers of blessing we need:

Mercy drops round us are falling

But for the showers we plead.

“There shall be showers of blessing”

Precious reviving again;

Over the hills and the valleys;

Sound of abundance of rain.

“There shall be showers of blessing”

Send them upon us Oh Lord!

Grant to us now a refreshing;

Come now and honour Thy Word.

“There shall be showers of blessing”

Oh, that today thy might fall,

Now as to God we are Confessing,

Now as on Jesus we call!

“There shall be showers of blessing”

If we but trust and obey;

There shall be season refreshing,

If we let God have his way.
