TOPIC: Lessons From The Life Of Mordecai (III) (Mountain Of Fire and Miracle Ministries, MFM Devotional 11 June 2023)

BIBLE IN ONE YEAR: Psalms 6, Psalms 7, Psalms 8, Acts 24, Acts 25

FIRE SCRIPTURE: Esther 4:1-10 (KJV)

1 When Mordecai perceived all that was done, Mordecai rent his clothes, and put on sackcloth with ashes, and went out into the midst of the city, and cried with a loud and a bitter cry;

2 And came even before the king’s gate: for none might enter into the king’s gate clothed with sackcloth.

3 And in every province, whithersoever the king’s commandment and his decree came, there was great mourning among the Jews, and fasting, and weeping, and wailing; and many lay in sackcloth and ashes.

4 So Esther’s maids and her chamberlains came and told it her. Then was the queen exceedingly grieved; and she sent raiment to clothe Mordecai, and to take away his sackcloth from him: but he received it not.

5 Then called Esther for Hatach, one of the king’s chamberlains, whom he had appointed to attend upon her, and gave him a commandment to Mordecai, to know what it was, and why it was.

6 So Hatach went forth to Mordecai unto the street of the city, which was before the king’s gate.

7 And Mordecai told him of all that had happened unto him, and of the sum of the money that Haman had promised to pay to the king’s treasuries for the Jews, to destroy them.

8 Also he gave him the copy of the writing of the decree that was given at Shushan to destroy them, to shew it unto Esther, and to declare it unto her, and to charge her that she should go in unto the king, to make supplication unto him, and to make request before him for her people.

9 And Hatach came and told Esther the words of Mordecai.

10 Again Esther spake unto Hatach, and gave him commandment unto Mordecai;

MFM Devotional For Today 2023 MESSAGE:

Today, we want to look at another lesson to be learnt from Mordecai. In our Fire Scripture, when Mordecai learnt of what had been done by their enemies, he rent his clothes and became naked. Esther’s male servant had to go to intimate her of what was happening, and she sent fresh raiment to Mordecai, but he received it not.

Therefore, we can safely conclude that Mordecai had hope in God’s ways and provisions for their deliverance. One of the most celebrated verses in the Bible came from the lips of Mordecai, when he was speaking to her (Esther) about why she must be the one to tell King Ahasuerus of Haman’s plot. He did not make less the truth that when the king discovers Esther’s Jewish heritage, she would have the same fate as all the rest in the community.

However, he instilled in her the hope that the difficult position she was in was ordained by God for her. He said, “Yet who knows whether you have come to the Kingdom for such a time as this? (Esther 4:14). After this response of encouragement, Esther knew that she needed to connect to God through fasting and prayer to learn of God’s plan for them in the circumstance. This may be the reason why Mordecai told Esther not to reveal her Jewish heritage from the start, that he knows well before she did that this would be an important factor that would not only save the lives of her people, but also that of herself, Mordecai, and even the king.

Dear reader of this devotional, no matter what you are passing through, you must believe in God’s ways and provisions, because what God cannot do, does not exist. He is a capable, reliable and wonderful Father. We must therefore believe in Him, His ways and His provisions to sustain us.
