OPENING PRAYER: Father, let your Church grow possibly.

MEMORY VERSE: “Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” – Acts 2:47

BIBLE TEXT: ACTS 2:42-47

42. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.

43. And fear came upon every soul: and many wonders and signs were done by the apostles.

44. And all that believed were together, and had all things common;

45. And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.

46. And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart,

47. Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.

LESSON INTRODUCTION: Much of contemporary church is concerned with structures and finances of the church but the heartbeat of the church, which is soul winning and welfare of souls won is rather played down. It should be noted that the churches is the building and money that comes in but God places premium on the souls and how they are natured into maturity in Christ. When soul winning, nature and development (Discipleship) of souls are given priority with connection to the mainstream of the churches for care in all the ways churches will grow naturally.

TEXT REVIEW: ACTS 2:42-47

i. We must be steadfast in the doctrine and fellowship with the soul.

ii. All souls must have together the same belief.

LESSON OUTLINES:

In the first church by the Apostles, five important ingredients made it biblical church and there were evidences of church growth. This template is for all seasons and generations if our churches will judiciously follow the steps, there will be biblical growth.

1. Sound doctrine, verse 42.

One other comment about the Church is that they had favour with all the people around, they sold their properties and shared among brethren.

ACTIVITY: Discuss why true biblical doctrine is not that strong in the church any more?

SUMMARY: True biblical church growth is still possible if souls are nutured into maturity in Christ.

CONCLUSION: Church is the assembly of called out believers and this special people can become the pillars of growth to the amazement of all if the biblical principle of the first church as stated are followed to the latter, we have been promised a true biblical church growth by our Lord and Saviour when he said, I will build my church. Matthew 16: 18-19.

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Thank God for the church of Christ worldwide and for growth in the past.

2. Father, thank You for all the Parishes of RCCG that are growing now.

3. Father, please reveal the TRUTH about growth of the church to all our Pastors.

4. Father, every barrier to true biblical growth in our churches, please uproot them out of the mission in Jesus Name

5. Father, please build Your church and prevent all forms of evil gates from attacking Your church.

GOLDEN DIET FOR THE WEEK:

MONDAY: Jesus started His church by going out, plan an evangelistic outreach this week. Luke 5:1-11.

TUESDAY: The church cannot succeed in isolation, we need other believers. Hebrews 10:15-25

WEDNESDAY: Jesus did not forget His local church in Nazareth, contribute to biblical growth of your local church. Luke 4:14-22

THURSDAY: True love for the brethren is the magic of working together to defeat the enemy.

FRIDAY: The Word of God and of life is the foundation of church growth.

SATURDAY: The true biblical church will grow rapidly when it responds quickly to the plight of the needy. Matthew 25:31-46.

SUNDAY: The place of prayer and worship in contemporary church growth cannot be looked down. It is the real sacrifice of the church. Isaiah 58:13-14.
